Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Director for Student Activities & Greek Affairs, the Program Coordinator for Sorority & Fraternity Life manages Loyola University Chicago’s Sorority & Fraternity Life (SFL) program. Loyola’s Greek community comprises approximately 20% of the general student body; the SFL program serves three governing councils, 12 Sororities and 8 Fraternities.
Responsibilities:
- Support and assist all social sorority and fraternity organizations with department. processes and procedures, program planning and overall organization management.
- Directly advise the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, and provide guidance to the individual sorority/fraternity chapters.
- Ensure accountability of chapters to the Standards for Sorority & Fraternity Life.
- Provide leadership and creative solutions that result in Greek organizations embracing a lifestyle that promotes the healthy development of each member.
- Manage budgets associated with SFL.
- Manage and maintain an expansion policy for new chapters.
- Oversee fraternity/sorority recruitment/intake process.
- Monitor safety and risk management practices.
- Co-manage SFL’s social media and brand.
- Serve as liaison between national fraternity/sorority alumni, staff, and chapter advisors.
- Work with alumni advisors to support undergraduate chapters and conduct advisor trainings as needed.
- Facilitate Presidents’ Meetings.
- Coordinate all expansion processes.
- Responsible for the creation of all SFL Publications (Annual Report, Newsletter).
- Maintain and distribute community statistics and grade reports.
- Coordinate Senior Send Off Program for graduating Seniors.
- Attend student organization or department events as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Master’s degree in college student personnel, counseling, or related field is required.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in student personnel, counseling, higher education administration or related field is preferred.
- 0-2 years in student affairs/student development or related work experience.
- Direct experience advising fraternities/sororities strongly preferred.
- Ability to work autonomously, take initiative and to establish work priorities to ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships, outstanding communication and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in program and event management preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and social justice issues.
- An understanding of and appreciation for Jesuit higher education.
