This position works under general supervision, coordinates administrative, personnel and logistical support for ongoing department programs or offices. Assists with budgeting, provides counseling, technical/topical training, collects data and coordinates all program components. Produces programs and activities for students. Mentors students. Collaborates with other university entities to produce programs for students and assist with educational outcomes for non-academic conduct situations. May have marketing duties. May supervise support staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Directly advise the chapters and councils of two of the four governing councils recognized by UAB and student organizations.
Assist with the planning, development, coordination and assessment of Fraternity Sorority programs including, but not limited to, leadership retreats, Greek Week, Greek Awards, the leadership development seminars, harm reduction education, and chapter compliance.
Assist with conduct enforcement and education of University policies and guidelines as well as municipal, state and federal laws to organizations within the Fraternity Sorority community.
Communicate regularly with chapter advisors, staff, faculty, student and the Birmingham community regarding relevant issues and topics.
Present leadership workshops and training sessions that address character formation.
Annual Salary Range: $34,278.40 – $53,934.40
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Counseling, Education or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree with a concentration in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel Services, Leadership, or a related field. Membership in a National Greek Letter organization and/or experience advising Greek lettered organizations is highly preferred for this role.
