Student Engagement, GA

Position provides support for the entire Student Engagement department. Assist the Student Engagement team; assist in the planning and participating in Eagle Fest week, Eagle week, student leadership awards and multicultural programming for the student body; sustain assessment data entry for student organizations, and Greek life, assist with allocation funding process for student organizations; coordinating student organization quarterly training, retreats and weekend leadership conference.

Required Qualifications

Although students are not required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.gov, they must have either a valid Social Security Number for required IRS reporting or a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

Must be enrolled at NLU at least half-time for classes needed toward your degree.

Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Important Note: Students are only eligible to receive one NLU resource per academic year. The only exception to this policy is students who are awarded one of our institutional merit-based donor scholarships.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate for the Student Engagement Graduate Assistant (GA) must possess the required abilities: strong existing data entry and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Attention to detail; Excellent facilitation skills; Ability to maintain confidentially and make progress without direct supervision; Professional demeanor; Strong spoken and written communication skills; Must be a team player and enjoy collaborating with others; Strong organizational skills; Must be creative and have excellent critical thinking skills; Articulate and tactful communication skills; Must be a quick learner and able to complete projects independently; Comfortable speaking to groups of people; Must have availability for weeknights and occasional Saturday programming.

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will provide support for the Student Experience Department. The GA’s essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Assist in the planning and participating in Eagle Fest, Eagle week, student leadership awards and multicultural programming for the student body

Assist with allocation funding process for student organizations

Assist in facilitating and planning Activities Board programming

Coordinate planning and facilitating the Anti-Hazing Workshop

Help with Student Organization registration in Eagle Life

Plan Greek Life Leadership retreat

Sustain assessment data entry for student organizations, and Greek life.

Actual Hourly Wage $1,800.00/TERM-TUITION CREDIT ONLY
