Student Life Coordinator

The Student Life Coordinator is responsible for producing a variety of campus-based programs and activities that foster developmental, psychosocial, physical, and personal growth for all students and that contributes to an environment that fosters social, educational, and personal growth for all students. The coordinator is also responsible for assisting in the overall operation and maintenance of all aspects of Student Life.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Uphold and fulfill the mission, vision, values, and traditions of the University of St. Francis;

Assist in providing leadership and management to all aspects of Student Life particularly Student Engagement

Participate in emergency response on-call rotation for the residence hall students

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Senior Assistant working with Student Life

Maintain in collaboration with the Student Life student employees an effective reporting structure within the department and to the Director of Student Life;

Advise the Student Activities Board with budget management & preparation; book entertainment, process contracts, and execute check requests;

Represent University of St. Francis at the National Association of Campus Activities regional and national conferences as decided by the Student Activities board;

Advise the Commuter Assistants with supporting the commuter student population including supporting student engagement, club budget management & preparation, and planning programs;

Integrate co-curricular activities with the academic division by providing programming that enriches the learning environment of the University through the Foundations curriculum, program support, and co-curricular mapping;

Develop and participate in activities that support student retention such as one on one engagement with various populations including at risk and international students.

Assist with the development and planning of programs throughout the school year that assist students in developing a broader understanding of diversity;

Assist in planning, scheduling, and implementing the Orientation Board recruitment process;

Assist in leading a comprehensive Orientation Board training;

Coordinate the development, implementation and oversight of Freshmen and Transfer Orientation for approximately 500 new students during Fall and Spring semesters;

Coordinate the development and implementation of the Parent Orientation component of Freshman Orientation;

Oversee Greek Life processes which may include expansion to new organization on campus

Create and maintain communication with Greek Life chapter presidents and other officers, advisors and headquarter representatives through regular email updates and scheduled meetings;

Coordinate new sorority and fraternity chapter recruitment;

Serve as a resource person for students and the USF community on issues relating to Greek Life such as recruitment, community service, leadership development and compliance with university policies;

Attend Student Life staff meetings, SAB meetings, and Commuter Assistant meetings as appropriate;

Serve as an administrator including maintaining a yearly area budget for Student Life and support assessment initiatives within the department;

Work collaboratively during Summer months to manage Student Life specific projects;

Carry out other assignments as designated by the Dean of Student Life

Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.

One-year successful experience in Student Affairs; this may include graduate work.

Willingness to support the mission, vision, values and traditions of the University of St. Francis, as well as a commitment to higher education.

Basic knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Able to perform the physical requirements of the position.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational and administrative skills

Preferred Requirements

Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration or a related field.

One year of Residence Housing type experience

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Evening on call duty as assigned.

Physical Requirements of Position

The Student Life Coordinator resides in one of the residence halls. Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
