Job Description
Summary
This position is a full-time professional staff member that will provide leadership to support and guide sorority and fraternity chapters and governing councils in program development, risk management, and the promotion of leadership for community members. The Mizzou Greek community consists of 59 inter/national Greek letter organizations; IFC (32 chapters), MGC (4 chapters), NPHC (7 chapters), PHA (16 chapters). The approximately 7,500 Greek men and women represent 27% of the undergraduate campus population. Eighty percent of the Greek community lives in chapter houses owned and operated by individual chapter corporation boards. This position will report directly to the Associate Dean of Students within in the Division of Student Affairs. This position is responsible for the strategic direction and daily operations of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life , including the ongoing development and supervision of all staff.
Essential Functions
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Vision – providing overall direction, leadership, strategic thinking, and visioning for the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
Community Building – Lead two Fraternity & Sorority Life advisory boards of 50-60 alumni, collaborate and serve as a resource for University of Missouri students, alumni, parents/families, faculty, staff, and administration on topics relating to sorority and fraternity life.
Operations and Administration – overseeing the daily operations and administration of the Fraternity & Sorority Life community including implementing departmental goals based on the strategic plan, marketing and communication efforts, campus and community outreach programs, and departmental budget development.
Supervision – providing supervision, review, support, and professional mentorship to full-time staff, graduate assistants, and student staff. Coordinate weekly staff meetings, individual staff meetings, staff evaluations and feedback, professional development plans, and assisting Dean of Students staff initiatives when necessary.
Advising – oversee and assist in coordinating advisement of IFC, MGC, NPHC, PHA, Greek Week, etc.
Fiscal Oversight – develop and manage the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life budget and develop innovative funding models to operationalize the strategic plan.
Programming – develop and implement strategic goals and comprehensive programs that directly affect the sorority and fraternity community at Mizzou. Some examples would be joint council initiatives, leadership development, harm-reduction education, diversity & social justice education, membership recruitment/intake education, to name a few.
Communication – create and maintain communication with chapter advisors and (inter)national headquarters staff through e-mail updates, meetings, trainings, and web and social media. Coordinate efforts and encourage involvement in educational programming initiatives. Ensure all published information is current, updated regularly, and grounded in best practices.
Sorority and Fraternity Conduct – assist the Office of Student Accountability and Support as they coordinate all sorority and fraternity conduct investigations and ensure the process and potential sanctions are congruent with proper procedures.
Collaboration – work collaboratively with various offices in Student Affairs to further the mission of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. Participate in department staff meetings to communicate business of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve and maintain our departmental and Student Affairs mission.
Salary
Salary Range: $53,600 – $96,992

Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Evenings and weekends required based on programmatic needs.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master’s degree preferred in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field. Four to six years of professional experience in higher education with experience in advising sororities and fraternities on a college campus, or inter/national office, including experience working with sorority and fraternity housing.
