Position Summary:
One of the nation’s leading public polytechnic universities, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) prepares students to be leaders in the technology-dependent economy of the 21st century. With an enrollment of over 11,400 undergraduate and graduate students, NJIT offers small-campus intimacy with the resources of a major public research university. NJITs residential community is composed of over 2000 undergraduate and graduate students. Residence Life is dedicated to student learning inside and outside of the classroom by creating unique residential communities for NJIT students to call home. The New Jersey Institute of Technology is seeking an Assistant Director of the Greek Village for the Office of Residence Life. This position is generally responsible for the day-to-day operations, activities and services for approximately 200 students. This is a 12-month, full time, “live-in” position which requires evening and weekend hours. The Assistant Director of the Greek Village serves in the on-call rotation during which they are expected to respond to student crises and emergencies across campus.

Essential Functions:
Among the key duties of this position are the following: Residence Life Supervises and evaluates undergraduate staff and develops a team that implements all the activities, programs and services needed to create inclusive communities that reflect the mission and goals of Residence Life & Fraternity & Sorority Life Assists in the resolution of conflicts arising from housing issues brought forth by students, parents, or by referral from the community. Utilize customer service skills via phone, email, and individual contact Manages the process and paperwork necessary for opening, breaks, and closing, including residential room health and safety inspections and damage billing Interprets and implements NJIT policies and procedures to staff and students and serves as a judicial hearing officer for select policy violations Participates in departmental and divisional training Facility Management Oversees the Greek Village room selection process and completes housing assignments using The Housing Director (THD) Works with colleagues from Residence Life, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and Facilities Services to address facilities related issues Works with members of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life team to manage on-campus social event registrations for the Greek Village Works with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life to support new member education or intake activities within chapter facilities. Participates in the annual review and assessment of all Fraternity and Sorority Life policies and procedures regarding Greek Village

Chapter Development and Advising Attends Weekly meetings with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life Attends Bi-Weekly Greek governing council meetings to strengthen representation and communication for the Greek Village Collaborates with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to support community-wide programming Attends chapter presentations to aid in the evaluation of the Standards of Excellence Attends meetings with chapter House Managers Risk Management and Harm Reduction Coordinates with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to develop educational programs for risk reduction in the area of hazing prevention, alcohol and other drug education, conflict resolution, and membership development Communicates with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life Staff to identify responsibility and roles during the conduct process for individual fraternity and sorority life members and chapters after violation of Fraternity and Sorority Life/Residence Life policies and procedures Develops and provides New Member Educator and Intake Coordinator trainings in conjunction with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life Support Attends Monthly Greek Housing Council and Greek Alumni Board Meetings Serves as the Residence Life liaison for the Greek Alumni Board (GAB), Greek Housing Council (GHC) National Housing Corporations. Assists in fraternity and sorority life’s expansion efforts as it relates to the use of facilities in the Greek Village. Coordinates the Move In Highlander Helper volunteer program

Additional Functions:
Opportunity to teach a section of the First Year Seminar (FYS) Residence Coordinators receive on-campus parking, meal plan valued at $2000 annually, and access to professional development funds. Residence Life provides live-in Residence Coordinators an opportunity to host a pet within the halls pending approval.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Student affairs administration, higher education, or a closely related field preferred • Prior residence life/housing and supervisory experience, experience working with fraternities and sororities required • Must possess the ability to work with a highly diverse population • Excellent problem solving skills • Strong commitment to students and their development
