Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement

Serves on the Executive Leadership Team in the Division of Student Affairs. Works alongside the VPSA to help provide direction to the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT) and occasionally facilitates Divisional meetings Provides visionary leadership and supervision for the staff in the Center for Student Engagement including student activities, over 200 student organizations, and Greek Life. Develops opportunities for partnership with faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders; assists with Preview Day and other recruitment/admissions events for prospective students as needed Incorporates the Core Principles of the Tech Tomorrow Strategic Plan in day-to- day planning. Works in collaboration with the AVP for Strategic Planning and Assessment to develop an assessment plan for student engagement for on-going and continuous improvement. Supervises the directors in the University Service Center, the Leona Lusk Officer Black Cultural Center and Office of Multicultural Affairs, and Office of Student Involvement and Leadership; conducts annual performance evaluations for direct reports. Assists with budget development and management for direct reports Provides oversight for a robust model for co-curricular engagement that provides opportunities for leadership development, community engagement, diversity and inclusion, cultural competency, professional development, and student connections. Expands the vision and programming for Greek Life; devises a comprehensive plan to increase membership recruitment, persistence and sustainability for all three councils – IFC, PAN and NPHC; explore opportunities to add other councils to expand sorority and fraternity life. Provides oversight for the student events calendar. Responsible for risk management and assessment for student events; ensures appropriate safety measures are in place before and during events. Reviews and executes contracts for events (concerts, entertainers, speakers, etc.) with appropriate internal and external stakeholders. Utilizes CAS standards to incorporate best practices and evidence-based strategies for co-curricular engagement; actively participate in professional associations to remain abreast of current trends and issues (i.e., NACA, APCA, NASPA, etc.). Oversees the Roaden University Center with regard to scheduling/reservations, facilities upkeep and maintenance. Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the overall student experience. Serves on university-wide committees to enhance the student experience Serves as the primary advisor for the Student Government Association (SGA) Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree from an accredited institution in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, or Education. Five to ten years of successful full-time experience in student affairs administration with significant areas of responsibility. Experience in programming, leadership, and supervision. Knowledge of University policies and procedures. Proven successful application of interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to communicate effectively with students, administrators and staff, faculty, parents, and guests of the University. Experience in student development theory and event and program planning.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate from an accredited institution is preferred. Knowledge of University policies and procedures preferred.

Work Hours

M-F 8am – 4:30pm

Occasional evening and weekends

Salary Commensurate with education and experience
