GatorWell is seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, motivated, and health-conscious graduate student to promote wellness in the sorority and fraternity community. The selected student should be skilled in public speaking and comfortable engaging with the Greek community through presentations, outreach, and interactive activities. Applicants should feel confident talking about a range of health topics, including fielding questions about sensitive health topics, such as alcohol and other drugs and interpersonal violence. The student will also be expected to build relationships with various stakeholders within Greek life. Students of any major are welcome to apply, though students with a background or current graduate work in public health, higher education/educational leadership, counseling, psychology, social work, health promotion, or health education will be strongly considered. Affiliation with or knowledge of social Greek organizations is preferred.
Primary responsibilities will include the following:
Communicate health messages and conduct related activities through tabling, presentations, and other outreach events.
Contribute to the development of wellness programming and creation of content tailored to the Greek community.
Time Commitment:
20 hours per week
Must be able to start in early August 2021.
Must be able to commit to the entirety of the 2021-2022 academic year.
Must have a mostly day time availability, but also some evenings (with advanced notice).
Must be able to attend the in person Fall 2021 GatorWell All Student Staff Training before classes start in Fall 2021. (TBD, but likely Thursday, August 18th, Friday, August 19th or Saturday, August 21st, 2021)
Position Reporting Structure:
This position will be supervised by, and work in collaboration with, a full time professional Health Promotion Specialist who is embedded in Sorority and Fraternity Affairs.
General Expectations:
Students are expected to be highly responsible, organized and dependable. Students are also expected to have high proficiency in communication and presentation skills with a variety of audiences. Dress in office and for presentations is business casual. While conducting tabling and associated outreach, dress includes khaki pants or shorts, a GatorWell staff polo and closed toes shoes.
Expected Salary:
Salary is $12/hour. This is an hourly student OPS position and does not include a tuition/fee waiver or benefits.
Minimum Requirements:
Accepted to a UF graduate program at the Gainesville campus
Must be able to start early August 2021
Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must be able to commit to 20 hours a week in fall and spring 2021/2022

Additional Requirements:
For those selected for an interview, you will be asked to perform a 5-10 minute presentation during your interview. The purpose of the presentation is to showcase your communication skills and ability to organize thought in a scenario similar to the daily work expectations for the position. Props, PowerPoint, and interactive activities are allowed but not required. You will be asked to present on of the following topic:
How should universities prioritize health promotion in the Greek community? Please use UF examples when possible.

This is a time-limited position.
This position is open to all graduate students who are eligible to work on campus in Gainesville. Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average and be enrolled for at least six credit hours a semester. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis at 20 hours per week.
