The Department of Classical Studies in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan seeks qualified applicants for a part time, one term position to begin January 1, 2022. This position is pending final approval.

Responsibilities*

Duties and responsibilities for this GSI position are teaching three in-person discussion sections of CLCIV 385: Greek Mythology. In addition to teaching and grading responsibilities, the instructor will be required to attend all CLCIV 385 lectures (held in-person), hold office hours for students, provide appropriate syllabus and course materials, attend weekly meetings with the faculty instructor and other GSIs.

Required Qualifications*

Enrollment in a graduate program in Classical Studies, Ancient History, Classical Archaeology or a related humanities field.

Desired Qualifications*

Knowledge of Greek civilization and history and experience teaching Classical Civilization courses at the college level.

Decision Making Process

Review of applications will commence December 16 and the anticipated date by which an offer will be made is December 21, 2021.

Applications will be evaluated based upon demonstrated subject matter expertise, successful performance in the classroom, and the needs of the department.
