The Assistant Director of Fan Experience position exists to provide support for the strategic marketing initiatives of the Athletics Department and assigned sport programs. The Department of Athletics uses marketing and fan engagement strategies to generate revenue, maximize attendance and to create a first-class game environment.
Responsibilities include: providing exemplary customer service to internal and external constituencies; assisting with the following: in-game experience and fan engagement at home sporting and special events; post-game survey research and analyzing data to improve fan experience at events; development and implementation of creative and innovative fan engagement ideas for assigned sports; managing the student internship program; managing student relations with on-Grounds athletics groups like Hoo Crew, Fill the Hill, Student Council Athletic Affairs, Greek Life, Residence Life and Dining; performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Administration or Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Experience: Some demonstrated fan engagement and live event experience in a collegiate or professional sports setting is required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations.
Effective communication in speaking and in writing.
Ability to solicit and analyze customer feedback through surveys and focus groups.
Ability to present a professional demeanor while delivering a high level of internal and external customer service.
Ability to write proposals and scripts and the ability to describe ideas, and/or plans clearly and effectively in written format.
Ability to work in a fast-paced game day environment while managing game day production constituents.
Ability to communicate clearly and to convey thoughts, ideas and plans clearly to coaches, administrators and other athletics staff members.
Ability to develop and initiate unique ideas and graphic design projects while working these plans into the marketing strategy of assigned sports programs.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and responsibilities in an efficient manner.
Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet the business needs of the unit.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in Sport Administration, Sport Management or a related field.
Experience: 2+ years of fan engagement and live event experience in a collegiate or professional sports setting with experience directing the game day presentation.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Has a passion for customer service and a proven track record at innovating the fan experience.
Ability to manage graduate assistants and a student internship program.
Ability to use Adobe PhotoShop, Click Effects, and Shoflo.
